Sargasso is a seaside wine bar in Margate that also serves food. This place has an atmosphere of distant adventures; you want to sit and look at the cold sea with a glass of white wine, a plate of fresh mussels or a squid sandwich and think about the sailing ships. The bar is very small: open kitchen, one row of tables and a few seats at the bar.
I love this place because of the atmosphere, the wine and of course the food. The dishes look simple, sailor-style, but each of them is interesting and made from excellent ingredients. It's no surprise that Sargasso has earned its place in the Michelin Guide with the Bib Gourmand award.
We tried several dishes from the menu:
- Bread and butter
- Smoked cod roe with radishes
- Mussels with nduja
- Clams in white wine
- Smoked eel
- Squid burger
